Last week, LGCA attended the quarterly Lyde Green Partnership meeting for Autumn 2017. Representatives from South Gloucestershire Council, GreenSquare, the Consortium, Lyde Green Primary School, Lyde Green Neighbourhood Watch, and the housing associations, were in attendance. Lots of updates were given and we also raised lots of your concerns too.
School Square
The additional street furniture should be installed in early October. This should allow the Square to open in early November! Great news!
The Square will provide a multi-purpose space for use by the buildings which open onto it and can provide much needed additional parking for their users too!
Health Centre
We’ve now had confirmation from the Council that there will not now be a Health Centre in Lyde Green. An additional £225k will go to Emersons Green Medical Centre to allow them to expand and make improvements to accommodate Lyde Green residents. We’ve asked the Council to put us in touch with the practice manager so we can make sure the views of residents are considered. We’ve also asked the Consortium to speak to the developers sales offices to request they update their marketing materials.
Footbridge
Construction on the new footbridge between Lyde Green and Emersons Green is scheduled to begin once the viaduct works are over. This should be in early 2019 and will require lane closures on the ringroad for around 12 weeks.
M4 J18a Consultation
South Gloucestershire Council’s Consultation on the M4 Junction 18a ends in a couple of weeks (16th October). Make sure you’ve had a read of the documents and have completed the online survey and/or emailed your comments to transport.policy@southglos.gov.uk.
Shops
The Council and Consortium are in pre-application discussions with a grocery/convenience retailer who is keen to take on the large unit next to the Community Centre and good progress is being made. The other vacant retail site is being discussed with the Consortium by an interested company but it’s still very early days so we don’t expect progress on these units any time soon.
Nursery
Good news – the Council are expecting a planning application for the Nursery fronting onto School Square in the next few weeks – we’ll keep our eyes peeled! The Nursery should be open late 2018/early 2019.
