Who are the LGCA?

The LGCA (Lyde Green Community Association) began life back in 2015 as a small group of residents who wanted to organise a Christmas get-together to generate a sense of community in a new area. Several years on we now have a full committee with 11 Trustees, a number of active volunteers, over 200 members, lots of partner organisations, and we’re a registered charity! We now have all of the benefits, plus a few extra responsibilities that come with our status as a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation).

We have a constitution which sets out our vision and objectives. Our key aims are:

  • To benefit the community and enhance social welfare
  • Generating community spirit
  • Making Lyde Green a great place to live and visit
  • Strengthening our growing community for the future

In our efforts to do this we organise community events, offer useful information and work with the Lyde Green Partnership network. The partnership includes representatives from the consortium of developers, GreenSquare (the outdoor maintenance company), South Gloucestershire Council and Emersons Green Town Council, St James Church, and the Primary School to influence issues that matter to Lyde Green residents. We have had, and continue to have, guidance and support from partners including LiveWest and Sovereign Housing Associations.

We’re very pleased to be running the new Lyde Green Community Centre. Thank you for all the support we’ve had from residents so far.

The success of all our activity is dependent upon the time and efforts of our volunteers. As we continue to grow there are more and more ways you can help (and more help needed!) so please contact us at info@lydegreenca.org
