Following our Community Engagement Event, we have taken residents’ views on board for the future of the Community Centre and Café, We’ve spoken with lots of potential hirers and have been putting together a provisional booking timetable; it’s looking positive and is beginning to get full so let us know if you’re interested in hiring the space!
In upcoming weeks, we’ll be looking for volunteers to sit on a community panel as part of the selection process for the new Café operator – give us a shout if you’d like to be a part of this!
We recently had a chance to visit the new Community Centre build and participated in training on the fundamentals like the alarm systems, heating and CCTV. Our Community Centre team lead, Bob, has made a fantastic video tour of the new Community Centre which we showed at our Community Engagement Event. The next steps are to finalise our discussions with the Council, make sure our policies are all up to date and spend time seeking funding and assistance with the fit out of the building itself. We’ll need lots of help to find equipment and funding, and get a crowdfunding page up and running, so please let us know if you can help!
We’ll also be welcoming our newly appointed Community Development and Centre Manager at the end of November so look our for him and make sure you say hi!
