Two of our Trustees, Kelly (who is also our Chair) and Louise (who is our former Secretary), have recently been awarded the NOCN Level II Certificate in Community Development. Kelly and Louise attended a Community Connectors Course run by Knightstone Housing Association, and were supported by their mentor, Marie Burke, Community Empowerment Officer for Knightstone in Lyde Green. The course was spread over 9 months and covered topics from formation of community groups to the skills needed to put on community events.
Kelly and Louise are both really pleased to have successfully passed the course and celebrated our success with our fellow learners with a graduation ceremony in October. Congratulations, Ladies!
This is an example of how volunteering can provide fantastic opportunities to boost your skills and add to your CV. There’s lots of opportunities for volunteers with LGCA, so why not contact us for an informal chat to find out how you can get involved?
